Combining nurture and nature in a home-based setting

The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum
How and what children learn

I provide personalized, nurturing, child-centred, home-based care and education that responds subtly and creatively to the rich diversity and endless differences in young children whilst working within the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and offering the free early years education funding for 2, 3 and 4 year olds.

Registered childminders are inspected by Ofsted, are subject to the same policies and procedures, and follow the same curriculum as nurseries and pre-schools.  All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected.

The three Prime areas are:
Communication and language
Physical development
Personal, social and emotional development

The four Specific areas are:
Understanding the world and
Expressive arts and design
What characteristics do effective learners demonstrate?

Children need to acquire knowledge and skills to survive in the environment they find themselves in, now and in the future, in whatever form that will take.  At Pippins I aim to foster an environment where children believe in themselves as capable learners who are competent, resilient, resourceful and reflective as well as children who are creative, innovative and social - thereby developing the skills for lifelong learning not only short term gains.
